[Ohrrpgce] Broken fades on Mac builds

I just discovered that fades are broken in recent Mac OS nightlies.

The fade seems to happen instantly, and incompletely, so no fade effect is
visible, and the colors end up wrong.

I am doing more investigation, and trying to figure out when this started.
