If you edit a textbox from the textbox browser while you're being prompted to *pick* a textbox, then we could simply disregard the returned ID from the textbox_editor. That is, I don't think if you switch between records while editing it should affect which box you picked.

Although textboxes are particularly affected by this because you might add connected textboxes, really the same problem exists for many different data types, especially those with graphical browsers, which I think would all benefit from the change I suggested.
As another example, I recently fixed (in my opinion) a very similar problem in the slice codename editor/picker simply by adding a cursor to show which lookup code is the selected one. Without that, it was unintuitive and easy to end up with the wrong lookup code selected.
