A few specific examples:

Arfenhouse 1 (2 and 3 use proper no-graphic trigger NPCs, but the intro text of the first game is triggered by an all-black Housemaster)

I did this in some of my older games, which were lost permanently to computer breakdowns because I kept ignoring the advice to make backups (or the backups were lost along with the originals) or, in the case of my abandoned Wolf's Quest remake, I was still actively editing the game and just defined an actual palette for the dark figures as soon as it actually became required.
