Thanks. I think I remember the re-dissolve getting fixed at some point. I just realised this is similar to #43 (which isn't fixed), but they are two different bugs.

Continuing to flog a dead target is a quirk of the battle system which can be amusing or annoying. I think there should be a global bit to cause extra hits to stop. So maybe we should leave this open as a feature request.
