[Ohrrpgce] SVN: teeemcee/7735 Work around a bug in FB 1.04/1.05 when compiling with debug=0.

dkl has fixed it already. The fix was, for non trivial reasons, simply
to remove the assert, but he also added nearly 500 lines of testcases
for this!
