findfiles needs to be rewritten, after which it will no longer use
tmpdir. So it doesn't really matter, as that commit will be reverted
eventually anyway.

common_base.bas ought to import config.bi for SLASH, as util.bas does.

Just now I tried using DIR on Linux, but I couldn't immediately figure
out how to get it to report files instead of just directories.
