After looking at this bug I realize the fix is much easier than I expected. I
just addec user-defined background color support to the clearpage command, and
that seems to clear up everything!

I checked all menus to make sure they look right, but I would greatly
appreciate it if anybody can double-check all menus.

I will leave this bug open until I have independent verification that I haven't
missed anything, and haven't messed anything up.

I'm forcing an early nightly build right now, so you can test right away.
